The Swarthmore Co-op is a an institution unique to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. Started by Swarthmore residents more than 70 years ago, it is principally owned by the cooperative’s shareholding customers and exists for the benefit and vitality of the Swarthmore community and the Co-op’s employees. The Co-op seeks to provide a convenient, friendly and helpful market dedicated to supplying quality meat, produce and commodity goods at reasonable prices to allow for the Co-op’s continued existence as a cornerstone of Swarthmore’s community. Swarthmore Co-op has a strong and abiding interest in local foods and great cooking. On this blog, several members of the community involved in the slow food movement, local foods, nutrition and cooking will be posting on a regular basis.
