Community Outreach at the Co-op

We are committed to uniting our employees, members, and the Swarthmore and surrounding communities. Through donations and volunteer efforts, our mission is to improve the lives and communities that surround us.

Shoebox Recycling

The Co-op participates in Shoebox Recycling year round. If you have gently used, wearable shoes, please place them in the Shoebox Recycling box near the Co-op entrance.

Shoebox Recycling accepts all shoes including:

·  Athletic shoes

·  Cleats

·  Timberland work boots

·  Dress shoes

·  Sandals

·  Heels

·  Flats

·  Cowboy Boots

Shoebox Recycling does NOT accept:

·  Shoes with holes in the soles or shoes that need cobbling or mending

·  Ski boots

·  Heavy winter boots

·  Roller skates/blades

·  Ice skates

Sunday Suppers

Sunday Suppers, a Co-op sponsored outreach initiative, benefits low-income households and homebound seniors in the Swarthmore and surrounding communities. On Sunday nights, after the Co-op closes its doors to shoppers, volunteers from the community cook healthy, nutritious meals in the Co-op kitchen. The meals are delivered on Monday mornings.

Recipients receive delicious, nutrient-rich, homemade meals that supported health, and volunteers cultivate a sense of service through cooking together for others in need.
