People are always telling us how much they love the Co-op’s Fresh Meats & Poultry. And for good reason, since we source only the highest quality in each category of meat & poultry we sell. Our buying philosophy is simply search for the best, prepare it with skill and price it as competitively as we can. What we do is deliver great value to our customers every day.
The meat counter at the Co-op is truly an "Old Fashioned Butcher Shop" where you can pick up tonight's dinner entree, or put in a special request for a crown roast of pork, or a dry-aged rib of beef.

Natural Acres Farm--Millersburg, PA
Natural Acres is a 525 acre farm certified organic since 1999. Dedicated to providing natural and organic foods Natural Acres partners with local neighboring farmers to obtain products that meet their high qualification standards for distribution. Their chickens are free to roam and eat off the land and the farm's steer are fed a healthy, organic diet and given freedom to roam the pastures for lots of exercise.
We recently started carrying Natural Acres Farm's beef. You can find their local, grass fed, organic beef products in our freezer section as well as in the fresh meats case.

We sell four categories of meats & poultry:
1. Conventional: Animals raised in traditional commercial fashion.
2. Natural: Animals raised in a humane fashion, with no antibiotics, no added hormones to promote growth, and a strict vegetarian diet.
3. Organic: Animals raised within the strict definition of natural, with the addition that all feed is organically grown.
4. Pastured: Animals raised on grasses, generally from local, small scale growers.
Each product has a distinctive sign in the meat case, as well as on the package label.
In terms of economics, conventional meats & poultry are most economical. Natural, Organic & Pastured have premiums for their added value.
